Howdy!

My name is Nikki Rad, and I am a senior Computer Science student. I love movies and filmmaking and I'm in this class because I want to see how tech changes the way we tell and experience stories. I'm also curious about how online sharing and creating affects who owns what in the media world, especially with the rise of AI.

Challenges

A key challenge in my content consumption has been dealing with compatibility issues between older software and modern hardware. A prime example is when I tried playing "The Sims 3" on my computer with a 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake processor, and the game wouldn't launch. This issue is common with older games not being updated to work with newer CPUs.

To fix this, I had to rely on a community-created solution. A patch developed by another gamer, which I found on GitHub, allowed me to run "The Sims 3" on my advanced processor. This experience highlights the challenge of keeping older media playable on the latest technology and the importance of community support in overcoming these obstacles.
